Pictured: Chatham 4th of July Parade 2024

The Chatham July 4th parade is coming up! All Chatham Girl Scouts and Girl Scout parents are welcome to walk in the parade as a large group behind our Chatham Girl Scouts banner and flag.  It is not necessary for your whole troop to march. Just be sure to arrange for adult supervision. Consider teaming up with another troop if only one or a few members of your troop want to march.

Troop leaders or other troop parents must accompany the girls in the usual Girl Scout age level adult-child ratios for safety reasons. 

Patriotic attire/accessories and sashes/vests are strongly encouraged.

·       The parade will be held, rain or shine, on July 4th.

·       Girl Scouts line up on Dempster Rd. near the corner of Hillside Ave.   

·       Plan to meet by 10:00 am.  The parade begins promptly at 10:30 am. 

·       The parade goes up Main Street and ends at the Chatham Middle School entrance.  Refreshments are provided for marchers after the parade courtesy of the Chatham Volunteer Fire Company and are served behind the Methodist Church just to the right of the Middle School entrance.

·       It's often hot, so it's a good idea to ask girls to bring water bottles. Some leaders bring a wagon to carry the water bottles and refills on the parade route.  Some bring along spray bottles filled with water to keep the girls cool along the way. 

·       Also, because of danger to children, the Chatham Fire Department strictly forbids giving out candy, for allergy reasons, and we can't throw anything at the crowd, but girls can hand spectators patriotic items like little flags or red, white and blue beads, stickers.
